This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Design and integrate components, primarily for systems based on PHP/Symfony.
• Work collaboratively with peers, engineering leaders, and subject matter experts to uphold future-state code and systems.
• Assess architectural trade-offs and propose scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Develop and execute incremental sprint solutions along with strategic long-term roadmap initiatives.
• Conduct and facilitate requirements analysis.
• Oversee user acceptance testing coordination.
• Manage competing resources and priorities through effective sprint planning.
• Integrate and develop AI-powered product features utilizing LLM APIs such as Claude/Anthropic and other emerging AI tools.
• Advocate for AI development tools like Claude and Google Gemini to enhance team velocity and code quality.
• Implement strategies to ensure high system and infrastructure availability.
• Document and convey results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Report directly to the Distinguished Engineer in the Dealer Tire CEG Technology group.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
• At least 7 years of experience as an application developer using the necessary technologies.
• Experience leading both onshore and offshore teams is essential.
• Strong critical and analytical thinking skills, including the ability to evaluate and decompose requirements, resolve ambiguities, assess technical trade-offs, identify risks, and communicate decisions effectively.
• Extensive expertise in PHP 8 and the Symfony framework.
• Adherence to PSR-12 coding standards and familiarity with common design patterns.
• In-depth knowledge of API design and implementation, including RESTful APIs and webhooks.
• Experience with JIRA, GitHub, and related DevOps tools.
• Proficient in applying and building with AI tools, including AI assistants and integrating LLM-based capabilities into products.
• Results-driven, with an agile mindset and strong intuitive problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to excel under changing deadlines and aggressive priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth business environment.
• Understanding of SSO protocols and identity federation standards such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect.
• Capability to create comprehensive technical designs from requirements and review AI-generated designs.
• Proficient in reviewing code against requirements and technical designs.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to starting work.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, up to 10% of the time.
