PhD Fellow, Intelligent Search, Recommendation and Procurement Optimization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and map the existing search system of the IGA marketplace, which includes ranking methods, semantic search, and the relevance of results.

• Create models to group equivalent offers to enhance the Buy Box and facilitate supplier comparisons.

• Design conceptual search mechanisms that can convert purchase intents into organized sets of products.

• Develop automated solutions for generating shopping carts from lists, commercial proposals, or descriptions in natural language.

• Construct multi-criteria optimization models to suggest cart compositions taking into account the lowest cost, shortest lead time, or minimal supplier count.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a PhD or currently pursuing one.

• PhD in fields such as Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines.

• Relevant practical or academic experience with search, ranking, or recommendation systems.

• Proficiency in Python for modeling, AI, optimization, or data science applications.

• Familiarity with embeddings, vector search, or similarity mechanisms.

• Experience with optimization algorithms or operations research methodologies.

• Understanding of multi-agent systems or intelligent agent architectures.

• Capability to model decision-making scenarios considering various criteria and constraints.

• Prior experience in marketplace, e-commerce, procurement, or supply chain environments.

• Experience related to Buy Box, product matching, item recommendations, or cart optimization.

• Knowledge of multi-criteria optimization techniques.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Typesense, or comparable search technologies.

• Understanding of graphs, ontologies, or semantic representations of products.

• Publications, research, or applied projects focused on recommendations, optimization, agents, or intelligent search.

• Availability to work 40 hours per week.
