Pharmacy Specialized Tech – Home Infusion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Deliver specialized support, oversight, and leadership within a designated area of pharmacy.

• Aid in training, troubleshooting, and enhancing processes.

• Ensure that the functions of pharmacy technicians adhere to state, federal, and local regulations.

• Fulfill assigned responsibilities within the specialized area while supporting other pharmacy technician roles as needed.

• Create and sustain training materials relevant to the assigned specialty area.

• Organize and engage in the training of new technicians.

• Maintain and enhance competency, develop competency programs where suitable, and document both training and competency.

• Provide feedback, remediation, and further training or information to staff as necessary.

• Formulate and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Manage workflow, identify resource inefficiencies, and optimize productivity.

• Identify and implement process improvement strategies in collaboration with supervisors or pharmacy management.

• Ensure technicians adhere to established processes and procedures.

• Supply data and metrics to management to assess process efficiency and effectiveness.

• Develop and maintain online procedures for downtime.

• Troubleshoot issues related to pharmacy software and hardware, including eRecord, Pyxis, and CII Safe.

• Address complex issues, triage as necessary, and coordinate with vendor field technicians or support.

• Inform staff, supervisors, and management regarding impacts on workflow or changes in processes.

• Assist with workflow challenges throughout the department.

• Provide regular coverage for the specialized area during daily workflows and downtime.

• Serve as a role model and resource for team members and fellow technicians.

• Retain skills in other areas for staffing flexibility and assigned duties.

• Complete additional tasks suitable for certified pharmacy technicians.

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School diploma is required.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a related practice area is preferred.

• Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy applications is essential.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

• Capability to multitask, manage numerous details with precision, work under pressure, and uphold a professional demeanor is required.

• Good moral character, including the application of ICARE values, is essential.

• Certification from a nationally recognized pharmacy technician certification program (currently PTCB) is required upon hire.

• Completion of an ASHP accredited training program or equivalent experience as a pharmacy technician is mandatory upon hire.
