Pharmacist – Pharmacy Benefit Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Offer clinical support to OHSU Pharmacy Benefit Management Services

• Oversee formularies, which includes adjudication, formulary decision-making, and benefit determinations

• Address and resolve clinical inquiries from members, clients, providers, and pharmacies regarding formulary options, therapeutic alternatives, and coverage decisions

• Complete member prior authorization requests in cooperation with PBM Pharmacy Technicians

• Collaborate with the pharmacy claims processor to implement formularies, clinical edits, and plan designs in accordance with requirements

• Create and present drug monographs, executive summaries, therapeutic class reviews, and medication policies to Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees

• Utilize claims data to assess benefit design for inappropriate utilization, as well as identify opportunities to enhance outcomes and optimize drug expenditure

• Operate effectively amidst competing demands and frequent interruptions from PBM Technicians, clients, members, and other healthcare professionals

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Pharmacist’s license issued by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy

• Specialized training or experience may be necessary upon recruitment

• Understanding of drug therapy, including dosage, indications, and side effects

• Familiarity with modern medication use systems

• Capability to provide drug information through written and verbal consultations and monographs

• Strong interpersonal communication skills

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Knowledge of supervisory concepts for indirect reports

• Effective problem-solving abilities

• Preferred: B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D.

• Preferred: Pharmacy practice residency or three years of equivalent work experience

• Preferred: At least 2 years of experience in managed care, health plans, or pharmacy benefit management settings

• Preferred: Experience in PBM operations

• Preferred: Specialty pharmacy practice experience

• Preferred: Knowledge in pharmacy benefit design

• Preferred: Participation in Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees

• Preferred: Experience in medication policy development

• Preferred: Expertise in pipeline development

• Preferred: Proficient in project management

• Must successfully pass a drug test
