This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Provide support during short-term, surge, and on-demand situations driven by military requirements.
• Offer personal financial counseling and management services to military personnel and their families at military installations.
• Conduct one-on-one counseling and consultations with commanders, providers, staff, and various stakeholders.
• Facilitate briefings, presentations, classes, seminars, and workshops focused on personal financial management.
• Supply referral resources to participants beyond counseling sessions.
• Aid service members in creating spending plans for extended absences.
• Create and distribute informational materials regarding financial matters.
• Organize and promote financial management classes throughout the military lifecycle.
• Utilize virtual counseling and secure electronic communication methods when permitted.
• Manage duty-to-warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocols.
• Communicate with leadership and engage in individual and group supervision.
• Share trends and challenges from designated installations.
• Engage in training, quality improvement committees, and other contractual activities.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• An associate degree plus 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• A high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may also be considered as a substitute for a bachelor's degree.
• A minimum of 3 years of financial counseling experience is needed.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Proficiency in spoken English is required.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are necessary if specified by the contract.
• Capability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must successfully complete the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must possess one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
• A valid in-state driver's license is required.
