Financial Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Provide patients with information regarding their financial responsibilities, such as co-insurance, deductibles, and fees associated with different levels of care.

• Review benefit verifications and patient obligations while addressing queries related to billing and fees.

• Monitor and manage recurring payments from patients, generating invoices and receipts as necessary.

• Maintain payment schedules and follow up on unpaid balances and authorized services.

• Address declined transactions and work with patients to resolve any payment issues.

• Prepare and handle financial documentation for new admissions as well as ongoing care programs.

• Scan, upload, and organize financial records within KIPU/EHR systems.

• Provide financial documentation to third-party vendors as required.

• Collaborate with billing and internal teams to troubleshoot billing challenges and update accounts accordingly.

• Keep track of metrics and patient financial data in Salesforce, KIPU, and other relevant systems.

• Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.

• Assist patients with inquiries related to finances, payment plans, and necessary adjustments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• An associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, healthcare administration, or a related field is preferred.

• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare finance, billing, or a comparable patient-facing financial position is required.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.

• Proficiency in financial systems and software, including KIPU, Salesforce, or similar applications.

• Familiarity with insurance verification, benefits coordination, and medical billing practices is highly desirable.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with flexibility based on business requirements.
