This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take full responsibility for monthly payroll from start to finish for both UK and employer-of-record employees.
• Oversee payroll adjustments, corrections, off-cycle payments, ex-gratia payments, contractor payroll, invoicing, and country-specific requirements.
• Manage People operations including onboarding, employee modifications, contracts, documentation, leave management, mobility, visas, international relocations, EOR and contractor onboarding, as well as offboarding.
• Address and resolve employee and manager inquiries.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of employee data, documentation, and People systems.
• Create and sustain automations, lightweight AI-enabled tools, workflows, and agents that integrate Rippling, Notion, Linear, Slack, Ashby, n8n, and Google Workspace.
• Streamline and enhance the People technology ecosystem while assessing new tools.
• Transform recurring challenges faced by employees and managers into improved processes, tools, guidance, or self-service options.
• Evaluate process effectiveness and keep runbooks up to date.
• Design scalable and high-quality employee experiences.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Talent, Performance Partners, and other functional specialists.
• Develop dashboards and perform lightweight analyses to support business decisions.
• Proven experience in People Operations, People Services, HR Operations, or a similar operational People role.
• Strong emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality.
• Comprehensive end-to-end payroll experience, preferably multi-country, either in-house or via an employer of record.
• Knowledge of UK payroll essentials such as PAYE, RTI, pension auto-enrolment, and statutory payments, or a strong aptitude for rapid learning in these areas.
• High comfort level with technology and a proactive approach to experimenting with AI tools.
• Capability to create automations using no-code or low-code tools, integrations, and AI workflows.
• Systems and workflow-oriented mindset with a natural inclination for simplification.
• Proficient in utilizing data to identify issues and make informed decisions.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
• Skill in balancing efficiency with empathy.
• Strong sense of ownership and readiness to collaborate across various People disciplines.
• Desirable: experience in areas such as rewards, benchmarking, pensions, benefits, performance, or engagement.
• Desirable: knowledge of UK and EU employment law.
• Desirable: experience in managing equity or share options, including EMI or unapproved schemes, and familiarity with cap-table tools like Vestd.
• Desirable: experience supporting international employment through employers of record.
• Desirable: experience in setting up or managing contractors, with awareness of off-payroll and IR35 regulations.
• Desirable: experience in a fast-scaling startup or scale-up, particularly during periods of rapid headcount growth or entry into new countries.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
