PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Verify and evaluate Japanese PDF annotation tasks for clarity, authentic content, and the absence of personal information.

• Annotate and delineate significant page areas, assigning component types and reading-order indexes.

• Document connections between regions and their corresponding figures or tables.

• Accurately transcribe all text in Japanese script, including handwritten material, furigana, and variant characters.

• Identify and flag any illegible source regions.

• Record language, document type, source, page dimensions, and metadata related to tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Conduct thorough reviews of colleagues' work as a secondary Japanese expert when proficient.

• Collaborate with published Japanese documents to develop training data for document AI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with complete proficiency in kanji, hiragana, and katakana, inclusive of furigana and variant character forms.

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-centric roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Comfortable working with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten forms.

• Fluency in the Japanese language is essential.

• Must be capable of functioning as an independent contractor.

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not eligible for support.
