PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify the provided PDF tasks.

• Ensure that pages are in Japanese, clear, contain genuine content, and do not include personal information.

• Identify and outline every significant page area.

• Assign types to components and establish reading-order indices.

• Connect areas to related figures or tables using parent component identifiers.

• Accurately transcribe all text as displayed, including Japanese scripts, furigana, and handwritten material.

• Highlight any illegible source regions.

• Document language, type of document, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, or handwriting.

• Conduct thorough reviews of colleagues' annotation work as a proficient annotator.

• Create human-generated training data for document AI models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with comprehensive knowledge of kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and various character forms.

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-heavy roles.

• Exceptional attention to detail and character-level accuracy.

• Capability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Proficient in handling vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten documents.

• Fluent Japanese language skills are essential; all annotation and transcription tasks are conducted in Japanese.

• Must possess independent contractor status.

• Unable to accommodate H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
