PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify assigned PDF tasks

• Ensure pages are in Japanese, clear, contain authentic content, and do not include personal information

• Identify and delineate every significant page region

• Classify component types and establish reading-order indices

• Connect regions to associated figures or tables using parent component identifiers

• Accurately transcribe all text as presented, including Japanese scripts, furigana, and handwritten material

• Highlight illegible sections

• Record language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting

• Review the work of colleagues comprehensively as a seasoned annotator

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with complete proficiency in kanji, hiragana, and katakana, including furigana and variant character forms

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-heavy roles

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail at the character level

• Capability to apply a consistent taxonomy across numerous pages

• Comfortable working with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten forms

• Japanese fluency is essential; all annotation and transcription tasks are conducted in Japanese

• Ability to operate as an independent contractor

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not eligible
