PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Open and examine the provided PDF pages for Japanese language accuracy, clarity, relevant content, and the absence of personal information.

• Identify and outline every significant page section, assigning component types and reading-order indices.

• Connect regions to related figures or tables by utilizing parent component identifiers.

• Accurately transcribe all text, including kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and handwritten material.

• Mark any regions of the source that are illegible.

• Record language, document type, source, page size, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Review the annotation and transcription efforts of colleagues comprehensively as a skilled annotator.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with a comprehensive understanding of kanji, hiragana, and katakana, including furigana and variant character forms.

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-intensive roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Proficiency with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten documents.

• Fluency in Japanese is essential; all annotation and transcription activities are conducted in Japanese.

• Independent contractor status is required.

• Currently unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates.
