PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify provided PDF annotation tasks.

• Ensure that each page is in Japanese, clear, contains authentic content, and excludes personal information.

• Identify and outline every significant page element, such as titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields.

• Assign component types and establish reading-order indexes.

• Connect regions to their corresponding parent figures or tables.

• Accurately transcribe all text as displayed, including Japanese scripts, furigana, and handwritten materials.

• Highlight any illegible source regions.

• Record language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Review the work of colleagues end to end as a secondary Japanese expert.

• Generate human-authored training data for document AI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with comprehensive knowledge of kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and various character forms.

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial work, or similar document-heavy roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Proficient in handling vertical text, multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten documents.

• Fluency in the Japanese language is mandatory.

• Status as an independent contractor.

• Must not require H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship.
