PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Locate a publicly accessible Japanese PDF within a specified document type that includes at least one multimodal element and document its source.

• Identify and delineate every significant page area, assigning component types and reading-order indices.

• Connect each area to its corresponding figure or table using a parent component identifier.

• Accurately transcribe all text as displayed, encompassing Japanese scripts, furigana, and handwritten content.

• Mark any source regions that are illegible.

• Record language, document type, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Review the work of colleagues comprehensively as a secondary Japanese expert.

• Generate a variety of training data authored by humans for document AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a native Japanese speaker with comprehensive knowledge of kanji, hiragana, and katakana, including furigana and variant character forms.

• Relevant professional experience in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial activities, or similar document-heavy roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Comfortable dealing with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten documents.

• Fluency in Japanese is essential; all annotation and transcription tasks will be conducted in Japanese.

• Status as an independent contractor is required.

• Currently unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates.
