
P&C Actuary, Portfolio Risk Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more countries.
β’ Develop realistic scenarios that encompass loss costs, rate indications, trends, development, credibility, segmentation, reserving, profitability, capital, catastrophe exposure, and portfolio concentration.
β’ Conduct pricing analyses, reserve evaluations, portfolio diagnostics, critique assumptions, perform sensitivity analyses, and provide management recommendations.
β’ Craft exemplary reference responses that meet high standards of actuarial and portfolio-risk quality.
β’ Assess AI-generated responses for mathematical precision, quality of assumptions, methodology, interpretation, and effectiveness of communication.
β’ Detect calculation mistakes, unsupported assumptions, improper use of actuarial techniques, confusion between correlation and causation, and unfounded recommendations.
β’ Offer written feedback to assist the research team in enhancing model performance.
β’ Engage in onboarding office hours and calibration sessions.
β’ A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in P&C actuarial work, insurance pricing, reserving, catastrophe modeling, or portfolio risk management.
β’ Experience in quantitative analysis utilizing insurance premium, exposure, claim, loss, or reserve data.
β’ Knowledge of account-level underwriting judgment in contrast to portfolio-level actuarial analysis.
β’ Capability to clarify methods, assumptions, limitations, and business implications for both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Strong quantitative reasoning skills, exceptional written communication, and a keen eye for detail.
β’ Proficiency in spreadsheets and at least one analytical or statistical software tool.
β’ ACAS, FCAS, or active pursuit of CAS credentials is a bonus qualification.
β’ Experience with personal, commercial, specialty, or reinsurance portfolios is a bonus qualification.
β’ Familiarity with catastrophe modeling, capital modeling, predictive modeling, or rate-filing is a bonus qualification.
β’ Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, SAS, or actuarial modeling platforms is a bonus qualification.
β’ Experience presenting findings to underwriting, finance, claims, or executive stakeholders is a bonus qualification.
β’ Earn up to $250 for each successful referral.
β’ Minimum of 20 hours per week (preferably 40+).
