This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a subject matter expert on employment tax compliance for the US and Canada.
• Conduct research, investigate, and resolve payroll tax notices at the federal, state/provincial, and local levels in the US and Canada.
• Monitor issues until resolution and maintain documentation to support audit processes.
• Execute payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments.
• Ensure accurate tax treatment for employees across various states and provinces.
• Oversee new tax jurisdiction and entity registrations in Smart Compliance.
• Address system exceptions and validate tax configurations.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll tax tasks, including the preparation of W-2/T4 forms, reconciliations, filings, and validations.
• Handle a high volume of employee tax/payroll inquiries while providing exceptional customer service.
• Aid in employment tax audits by supplying documentation and timely responses.
• Identify and propose process enhancements to mitigate risks and boost efficiency.
• Maintain adaptability to support peak periods and special projects.
• 3-5 years of practical experience in employment/payroll tax for both the USA and Canada.
• Proficient in Workday and Smart Compliance, including managing tax registrations and resolving exceptions.
• Direct experience with quarter-end and year-end payroll tax processes, including filings, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Experience in processing payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume employee inquiries with a strong customer service focus.
• Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; adept at organizing and interpreting payroll/tax data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• FPC or PCP certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with Executive Compensation Payroll and Tax Reporting.
• Self-motivated individual capable of managing multiple priorities with little supervision.
• Comfortable navigating uncertainties and evolving regulatory requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• A collaborative team player who contributes to a positive work environment.
