This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Accurately process bi-weekly and other scheduled payrolls in a timely manner.
• Ensure adherence to company policies as well as relevant federal and provincial regulations.
• Review and manage employee hours, overtime, vacation, sick leave, statutory holiday pay, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and other payroll modifications.
• Handle employee changes such as new hires, terminations, transfers, salary adjustments, and other updates.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records for employees in payroll systems and BambooHR.
• Address employee payroll inquiries, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in collaboration with employees, HR, and management.
• Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger accounts, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and payroll liabilities.
• Assist with journal entries, accruals, and both month-end and year-end reporting.
• Help with payroll remittances, statutory filings, T4s, T4As, Records of Employment, and other necessary documentation.
• Support payroll audits and respond to government inquiries.
• Assist in payroll system maintenance, testing, enhancements, data validation, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with the Payroll Manager, HR, and Finance teams regarding reporting, data issues, process enhancements, and deadlines.
• A post-secondary education is preferred, especially in Finance, Business, HR, or related fields, along with experience in the private or public sector.
• An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience will also be considered.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll or accounting.
• Familiarity with payroll and HRIS systems.
• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation, or progress towards obtaining it, is an asset.
• Strong understanding of payroll deductions, statutory requirements, and relevant employment standards.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and reliable results.
• Professionalism and discretion when managing confidential employee and payroll information.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with confidence in handling payroll data, reports, and reconciliations.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
