This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Manage and assess biweekly payroll for a significant workforce across various states.
• Analyze payroll information for hourly, salaried, and pay-per-unit staff.
• Verify unit-based compensation for clinical personnel, including multiple unit rates and other earnings within the same pay period.
• Reconcile payroll data among HR/payroll, electronic medical records/timekeeping systems, and additional payroll source information.
• Detect and resolve missing hours, units, incorrect rates, duplicate payments, and other inconsistencies.
• Evaluate timecards, PTO, holiday pay, bonuses, differentials, reimbursements, and adjustments related to payroll.
• Process and confirm new hires, terminations, status modifications, compensation changes, transfers, and other payroll-affecting alterations.
• Assess payroll ramifications of shifts between full-time, part-time, and PRN statuses.
• Calculate and verify overtime and standard rates for employees receiving multiple pay rates or compensation types.
• Handle retroactive pay, payroll corrections, off-cycle payments, and other modifications.
• Review deductions for benefits, garnishments, taxes, direct deposits, and other withholdings.
• Investigate and resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Operations, Finance, and field leadership.
• Track deadlines and follow up on outstanding timecards, corrections, approvals, and necessary information.
• Aid in maintaining multi-state payroll compliance.
• Perform payroll audits and reconciliations before and after processing.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end tasks, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation.
• Keep accurate payroll documentation and confidential employee records.
• Identify recurring problems and suggest process enhancements.
• Support payroll system testing, implementation, upgrades, and procedural changes.
• Undertake additional payroll and HR-related tasks as assigned.
• A minimum of 1–2 years of direct payroll processing experience.
• Required experience in multi-state payroll.
• Experience in processing pay-per-unit, piece-rate, productivity-based, or similar variable compensation is essential.
• Familiarity with payroll involving multiple pay rates within the same pay period is necessary.
• Working knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws.
• Understanding of regular-rate and overtime calculations related to variable compensation.
• Proven experience in researching and rectifying payroll discrepancies.
• Proficient Excel skills and the ability to manage large volumes of payroll data.
• Experience with payroll/HRIS and electronic timekeeping systems.
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to payroll precision.
• Capability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information appropriately.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
