This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee precise, timely, and compliant payroll operations for over 1,000 employees in the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, and Brazil.
• Lead and nurture a payroll team of two, setting priorities, reviewing tasks, ensuring adequate coverage, and promoting employee growth.
• Supervise global payroll delivery across the U.S., Canada, Brazil, and Costa Rica.
• Maintain payroll controls, evaluate procedures, approvals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations, including quarterly and annual filings, year-end reporting, reconciliations, and coordination with external payroll and tax agencies.
• Collaborate with Accounting on payroll-related general ledger reconciliations, month-end closing activities, accruals, and necessary documentation.
• Coordinate payroll funding with Treasury, encompassing wages, taxes, garnishments, retirement contributions, and other payments.
• Manage payroll vendors and escalations, addressing service delivery, issue resolution, compliance issues, and operational performance.
• Work alongside HR, Legal, and stakeholders to evaluate payroll implications of regulatory and business changes.
• Spearhead payroll process improvements and implement scalable solutions.
• Assess, test, and implement payroll-related system upgrades, configurations, and business-process enhancements with HCM business analysts.
• Establish and communicate payroll calendars, policies, procedures, and deadlines.
• Assist with payroll-related audits, including the annual 401(k) audit, and provide payroll reporting and analysis.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible payroll experience, including multi-state U.S. payroll and international payroll operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is mandatory.
• Proven experience in leading payroll professionals, including managing global and/or remote team members.
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting, payroll taxation, reconciliations, controls, and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting international payroll operations and collaborating across borders and time zones.
• Proficient in troubleshooting payroll processing issues and analyzing payroll reports and data.
• Familiarity with Workday and CloudPay, or similar HCM and global payroll platforms.
• Preferred knowledge of payroll processing and accounting for expatriate employees.
• Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong computer, organizational, analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

• Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work atmosphere.
