Payroll Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee a range of payroll responsibilities for various clients with the support of a team.

• Guarantee precise and prompt payroll processing for clients.

• Address payroll-related inquiries from employees.

• Collaborate with 401k and benefit providers.

• Independently meet payroll deadlines.

• Generate reports for clients’ accounting teams.

• Maintain employee timekeeping records.

• Conduct data reconciliation, reporting, and processing using Excel.

• Manage sensitive client information with professionalism and accuracy.

• Handle multiple clients and numerous payrolls on a weekly basis.

• Take ownership of client deliverables and enhance client satisfaction.

• Respond to compliance-related inquiries regarding California wage and hour regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5–7 years of demonstrated experience in managing multiple clients and processing numerous payrolls weekly.

• Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

• Consulting experience is preferred.

• Background in benefits, 401k reporting, and multi-state payroll is essential.

• General accounting experience is preferred, including journal entries.

• Knowledge of California wage and hour compliance requirements is necessary.

• Familiarity with Paychex, Paylocity, Gusto, and Rippling, with a focus on Paylocity and Rippling.

• Additional software experience is advantageous: Slack, Asana, Google Suite, MS Office, and Ease (Mineral).

• Advanced skills in Excel are required.

• Preference for comfort with Mac technology.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.

• Ability to proactively prioritize workload effectively.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to identify and resolve payroll data discrepancies.

• Competence in managing client issues and last-minute changes under pressure.

• Professional demeanor when dealing with sensitive information.
