This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Assist in the precise, timely, and compliant processing of biweekly multi-state payroll.
• Manage, audit, and reconcile payroll information.
• Examine timekeeping records, earnings, deductions, payroll taxes, garnishments, direct deposits, and other payroll transactions.
• Process and oversee employee garnishment orders, which include wage garnishments, child support, tax levies, and court- or agency-mandated deductions.
• Investigate, analyze, and address payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and system-related challenges.
• Generate payroll reports, reconciliations, and data analyses for audits, compliance, financial reporting, and strategic decision-making by leadership.
• Maintain payroll records and assist with year-end activities, such as W-2 review, payroll tax reconciliation, tax form review, and associated reporting.
• Collaborate with Benefits, Finance, Human Resources leadership, and other stakeholders regarding payroll modifications.
• Oversee payroll processes, suggest enhancements, and assist with system updates, user acceptance testing, regression testing, testing documentation, and process documentation.
• Support multi-state payroll operations by examining state-specific requirements, taxes, deductions, and compliance factors.
• Remain updated on federal, state, and local payroll regulations, laws, and best practices.
• Offer prompt employee assistance by addressing payroll inquiries and following up on questions.
• Experience in payroll processing, multi-state payroll regulations, payroll taxation, wage and hour laws, deductions, garnishment processing, quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, compliance practices, and payroll reporting.
• Skill in producing accurate and timely payroll outputs, analyzing and resolving payroll discrepancies, maintaining confidentiality, communicating effectively with employees and cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and supporting system testing and validation.
• Required experience with Oracle Time and Labor and ADP Workforce Now.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HCM, payroll, or timekeeping systems.
• An associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be accepted.
• A minimum of 5 years of payroll and tax experience is required, encompassing hands-on involvement with multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax activities, tax filing, tax auditing, and payroll compliance.
• Experience in facilitating payroll audits, quarter-end and year-end payroll processes, or initiatives for process enhancements.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred, whether active or inactive.
• Preferred: experience in supporting payroll system testing, which includes user acceptance testing, regression testing, test case execution, defect tracking, and validation of payroll outcomes.
• Preferred: experience in managing payroll-related benefits administration, benefit deductions, or payroll adjustments related to benefits.
• Preferred: an active Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
