This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six payroll tax professionals.
• Supervise payroll tax filings, payments, and compliance activities for legal entities throughout the United States and Canada.
• Act as the main point of contact with regulatory agencies concerning payroll tax audits, inquiries, notices, and compliance issues.
• Collaborate with the SVP of Accounting and peer leaders to design and implement payroll tax strategies.
• Identify and execute process enhancements to improve scalability, accuracy, efficiency, and customer service.
• Manage year-end payroll tax processing, including W-2 reporting, system updates, and regulatory filings.
• Establish and refine payroll tax compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Review payroll tax account reconciliations and address tax liabilities, credits, refunds, and agency correspondence.
• Ensure thorough documentation, knowledge transfer, and cross-training within the payroll tax function.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, communicating their impacts and necessary actions.
• Collaborate with Payroll Operations, Product Management, Technology, and Finance on system upgrades and compliance modifications.
• Develop business requirements and engage in testing, implementation, and validation of payroll tax system enhancements.
• Serve as the payroll tax subject matter expert for enterprise initiatives, acquisitions, system implementations, and strategic projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, auditors, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Over 10 years of progressive payroll tax experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity managing payroll tax compliance functions.
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll tax regulations, filings, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing intricate payroll tax operations within large, multi-state, and multi-jurisdictional organizations.
• Proven track record in leading teams, developing talent, and driving organizational transformation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a high-volume, deadline-sensitive, and rapidly changing environment.
• 10 years of experience with at least 5 years specifically focused on payroll tax compliance and management.
• Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and MS Outlook.
• Practical experience utilizing AI tools within your area, including workflow integration and measurable business impact.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA, CPP, or FPC certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with enterprise payroll and financial systems; experience with Oracle Financials is preferred.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, capable of influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Experience in the entertainment, media, or production industry is preferred.
