This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Confirm hours worked and any pay adjustments during each pay period, then record approved information in payroll records.
• Input payroll data into the payroll system, processing and distributing employee pay and earnings statements.
• Examine timesheets, wage calculations, and associated records to identify and rectify payroll discrepancies prior to finalization.
• Manage certified payroll for eligible employees, ensuring adherence to federal contractor payroll regulations.
• Collaborate with People Operations regarding compensation modifications, leaves of absence, and alterations in earnings and deductions.
• Support employees and managers with the company’s timekeeping system and associated procedures.
• Keep updated on final pay and changes in state tax and deduction laws that impact payroll processing.
• Carry out new hire onboarding responsibilities.
• Conduct reference or background checks on current employees as per customer requirements.
• Oversee employee separations, including final pay processing, equipment retrieval, and access termination.
• Work with the employment verification provider and fulfill requests that fall outside the provider’s scope.
• Review and manage employee updates in the HRIS, including demographic changes, benefit selections, and workflows.
• A minimum of two (2) years of combined experience in payroll processing and HR administration, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
• Proficient in multi-step payroll processing, encompassing wage and deduction calculations, timekeeping audits, and pay adjustments.
• Experienced in certified payroll processing and compliance with federal contractor regulations, including the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts, McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act, and Prevailing Wages.
• Solid understanding of payroll tax and deduction regulations as well as fundamental employment laws, such as FLSA, EEO, and ADA.
• Familiarity with using an HRIS, payroll, or timekeeping platform like Paylocity, ADP, Workday, UKG/Kronos, or similar systems.
• Competence in using Microsoft Excel for reconciliation and reporting tasks.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, including the aptitude to identify and correct numerical discrepancies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to articulate pay and policy information to individuals at all levels.
• Ability to manage confidential employee and payroll information discreetly and in line with company data protection policies.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, accounting, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience is accepted.
• Professional certifications such as FPC, CPP, aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP are preferred.
• Experience supporting a multi-state workforce or working within a federal government contractor environment is preferred.
• Capability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Proficient in operating a computer and standard office equipment, including frequent data entry and keyboard use.
• Ability to review detailed information on screens and documents for accuracy.
• Capacity to communicate daily via phone, email, video conference, and in-person interactions.
• Availability for a standard 40-hour work week, with potential for increased workload during payroll deadlines and period-end closure.
