This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Calculate and process payments for Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life in accordance with contract stipulations.
• Implement adjustments for CPP, offsets for other income, and interest modifications.
• Ensure that Life and Disability payments are evaluated, approved, and documented by a designated Case Manager or other authorized approver prior to disbursement.
• Handle lump sum payments, ongoing disability payments, and updates to payment information.
• Organize and prioritize workload to adhere to turnaround objectives and foster a positive customer experience.
• Maintain precision in the calculation and administration of benefit payments.
• Safeguard sensitive and confidential customer data.
• Confirm internal approval limits and pre-disability salary figures.
• Detect and resolve issues regarding direct deposit information and discrepancies.
• Address inquiries about payment amounts from claimants as well as plan sponsors and brokers.
• Monitor and manage instances of benefit overpayment, which includes maintaining tracking spreadsheets and overseeing settlement communications.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts and process voids, adjustments, or overpayment amounts as necessary.
• Forward received funds to the Accounting department.
• Assist in monthly reconciliation and year-end financial balancing activities.
• Prepare and review T4 and T4A reports, completing all year-end tax-related procedures.
• Review and adjust COLA and tax modifications at the end of the year.
• Serve as the designated liaison between Alberta Blue Cross and Service Canada regarding Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits.
• Completion of a diploma or certificate program in a relevant field, which may encompass payroll or disability payment calculation.
• A minimum of 2 years of pertinent work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize technological tools and quickly adapt to new software applications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet research tools.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Dedication and enthusiasm for providing an exceptional customer experience.
• High level of personal accountability and professionalism in all interactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with effective listening and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to interact effectively with the public, colleagues, and within a team setting.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to manage shifting priorities, uphold confidentiality, work independently with minimal oversight, and meet deadlines.
