Payment Poster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Post insurance and personal payments to patient accounts.

• Balance checks within an imaging workflow environment.

• Verify and write off non-allowed charges billed to participating payers.

• Confirm patient responsibility.

• Read and understand insurance company explanations of benefits.

• Reconcile daily deposits with posted amounts and address discrepancies.

• Post rejections from insurance companies.

• Process refunds for overpayments, unidentified payments, and misdirected funds.

• Research the imaging system to locate remittances for suspended payments.

• Contact insurance companies to request copies of remittances.

• Review and correct the batches of trainees as necessary.

• Locate Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) files for Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) and report any missing files.

• Identify payers for EFT and accurately associate them with ERA files.

• Detect and report discrepancies in ERA files to the supervisor.

• Uphold strict confidentiality.

• Carry out other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.

• At least one year of experience in third-party billing.

• Required experience in a healthcare business office, particularly in collections and/or payment posting.

• Proficiency in Excel and Word is essential.

• Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and systems.

• Solid understanding of the revenue cycle.

• Comprehensive knowledge of payer contracts and reimbursement policies.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Understanding of contractual management practices.

• Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word and MS Excel.

• Basic knowledge of managed care programs and billing requirements.

• Good mathematical skills.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, physicians, and external customers.

• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Familiarity with basic medical terminology and concepts is necessary.

• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ASA coding.
