Patient Service Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary point of contact for patients, physicians, and the general public.

• Deliver outstanding customer service during interactions with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and colleagues.

• Manage inbound and outbound calls in accordance with customer service standards.

• Accurately identify patients within the EMR system.

• Collect and input patient demographic and financial details while ensuring confidentiality.

• Confirm insurance eligibility utilizing online systems, payer websites, or phone inquiries.

• Handle faxes and transcribe relevant information into the EMR system.

• Liaise with care centers regarding urgent patient requests and ensure timely follow-up.

• Schedule outpatient appointments as required.

• Generate, print, and distribute patient estimates.

• Inform patients about outstanding balances, collect payments and copayments, or provide information regarding financial assistance.

• Address inquiries related to insurance residuals and self-pay accounts.

• Select CPT codes based on clinical descriptions.

• Assess out-of-network acceptance.

• Clarify billing procedures and hospital policies.

• Update and annotate accounts in compliance with standard procedures.

• Review insurance details and assess the necessity for referrals or financial counseling.

• Guide patients on using MyChart, including activation processes.

• Engage in and contribute to the development of Lean processes.

• Verify physician orders and the purposes of visits.

• Confirm multidisciplinary outpatient schedules to facilitate efficient processing.

• Obtain authorization for the release of medical records.

• Address and resolve patient complaints and concerns, or escalate as needed.

• Provide necessary information to physician offices and hospital departments.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED (Required).

• Typing speed of 40 words per minute.

• Strong communication skills.

• Excellent organizational abilities.

• Basic proficiency in computer skills.

• 1–2 years of relevant experience in the service industry focusing on exceptional customer service, or in a medical office environment, call center, or collections.

• Adherence to patient privacy and confidentiality regulations, including PHI and HIPAA compliance.

• Capability to work from Ohio.
