Patient Financial Services Representative I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Assess the patient financial obligations for services rendered

• Estimate, communicate, and gather patient financial responsibilities

• Offer financial counseling to patients

• Assist patients in comprehending insurance benefits, including co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance responsibilities

• Inform patients about available financial assistance programs when suitable

• Collect patient demographic details and request financial responsibilities from patients

• Evaluate patient eligibility for coverage by third-party payers and relay the status to the financial counselor, patient, or family member

• Confirm commercial insurance, workers' compensation, TPL insurance, and state and federal programs

• Record and address patient questions or concerns received via phone, mail, or in-person within specified time frames

• Verify the Master Patient Index in line with departmental policies

• Interpret physician directives

• Carry out additional tasks as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• The ideal candidate should possess experience in EHR, healthcare, and call center environments

• Outstanding customer service and computer skills are essential

• Candidates must be residents of Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin, with a preference for those in Missouri and Illinois

• A high school diploma/GED or 10 years of relevant work experience is required

• No prior experience is necessary

• Regular lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0–25 lbs.

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive movements of the feet/legs and hands/arms

• Regular use of vision and depth perception to identify and distinguish colors and for tasks at various distances

• Regular use of hearing and speech for effective oral communication; ability to hear alarms and identify malfunctioning machinery

• Frequent keyboarding and data entry tasks

• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping

• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 25–50 lbs.

• Rare climbing required

• No professional license or certification is required
