This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +24 more states.
• Handle patient payments over the phone in accordance with financial responsibility policies.
• Establish, modify, and oversee payment plans.
• Ensure accuracy in transactions, documentation, and data integrity.
• Clarify and interpret claim notes, balances, and billing outcomes for patients.
• Verify, audit, and update insurance details.
• Add or modify insurance information in the EMR and resubmit pending or corrected claims.
• Inform patients about coordination of benefits, deductibles, coinsurance, copays, timely filing, and claim denials.
• Detect discrepancies and collaborate with internal teams to address billing issues.
• Investigate account history to identify reasons for billing or payment issues.
• Suggest resolutions and next steps that align with policy.
• Utilize billing systems, EMR platforms, tools, and knowledge resources effectively.
• Manage multiple systems concurrently while assisting patients.
• Adhere to schedule and maintain availability during assigned hours.
• Fulfill required client-mandated training and engage in uptraining and cross-training.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality, documentation, privacy, and security standards.
• Deliver professional, accountable, empathetic, and patient-centered service.
• Customer service or call center experience is mandatory.
• Experience in healthcare billing, insurance, or claims is highly preferred.
• Preference for candidates with payment processing or financial transaction experience.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Proficiency in using EMR systems and standard computer applications is essential.
• Capability to work autonomously in a remote or virtual setting.
• Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
• A background check is required in accordance with relevant laws.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
• A solid understanding of healthcare billing and insurance principles is necessary.
• Ability to communicate complex billing information in an easily understandable manner for patients.
• Comfort with navigating multiple systems and tools simultaneously.
• An organized, self-driven, and collaborative work style is required.
• Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or Wyoming.
• Starting pay of $15/hr plus a shift differential of an additional $1/hr for nights and weekends.
• Paid training, typically lasting 2 weeks from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday (EST).
• Full-time position with 40 hours per week.
• Eligible for benefits on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment.
