This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +24 more states.
• Process payments from patients over the phone in accordance with financial responsibility policies.
• Create, update, and manage payment plans effectively.
• Ensure accuracy in transactions, documentation, and data integrity.
• Interpret and clarify claim notes, balances, and billing outcomes for patients.
• Verify, audit, and update insurance information as necessary.
• Add or modify insurance data in the EMR and resubmit pending or corrected claims.
• Educate patients regarding coordination of benefits, deductibles, coinsurance, copays, timely filing, and claim denials.
• Identify discrepancies and collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing issues.
• Research account histories to ascertain the root cause of billing or payment issues.
• Recommend resolutions and next steps that align with company policies.
• Utilize approved billing systems, EMR platforms, tools, and knowledge resources.
• Navigate multiple systems concurrently while assisting patients.
• Adhere to documentation, privacy, security, and HIPAA requirements.
• Maintain schedule compliance and availability during assigned hours.
• Complete client-required training and engage in uptraining and cross-training.
• Deliver professional, accountable, empathetic, and patient-centered service.
• Required customer service or call center experience.
• Strongly preferred healthcare billing, insurance, or claims experience.
• Preferred experience in payment processing or financial transactions.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Technical proficiency in EMR systems and standard computer applications.
• Ability to work independently in a remote or virtual setting.
• Must be capable of speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
• Background check is required in compliance with applicable laws.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Analytical problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of healthcare billing and insurance concepts.
• Capacity to clearly articulate complex billing information in a patient-friendly manner.
• Comfortable working across multiple systems and tools simultaneously.
• Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative work approach.
• Starting pay of $15/hr plus shift differential (additional $1/hr for nights & weekends).
• Paid training, generally lasting 2 weeks from 9:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday (EST).
• Full-time position offering 40 hours per week.
• Benefits become eligible on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment.
