This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Produce engaging content for the digital, social media, and print platforms of the NY Daily News.

• Research, report, analyze, and craft original news and feature articles in both text and multimedia formats.

• Join the breaking news team, focusing on gathering information about ongoing events in the field.

• Ensure fast, precise, and transparent reporting.

• Generate story ideas, secure or create visuals, obtain sources, verify facts, and present information effectively.

• Enhance audience engagement through photo galleries, videos, aggregation, and diverse layouts.

• Conduct fact-checking, run background checks, and validate information prior to publication.

• Submit work punctually with minimal to moderate oversight and editing.

• Build relationships with beats and sources to discover exclusive stories.

• Contribute story ideas multiple times a week and identify emerging trends.

• Create and edit multimedia content including videos, maps, timelines, graphics, photo galleries, GIFs, and social aggregations.

• Capture or source photographs and produce basic videos for the content management system.

• Analyze the performance of digital content using audience engagement metrics.

• Collaborate with audience, data, and visual teams to design audience strategies and data visualizations.

• Engage in video production and live streaming activities.

• Achieve individual goals set by the supervisor.

• Occasionally drive for work assignments, training sessions, and meetings.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.

• At least one year of reporting experience at a news organization or website.

• Exceptional command of both verbal and written English.

• Professional-level understanding of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

• Ability to write clearly, accurately, and without bias.

• Knowledge of libel laws and commitment to adhering to the Editorial's code of ethics.

• Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset.

• Competitive nature.

• Capacity to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

• Ability to work independently while also being effective in a team setting.

• Proficient in various digital platforms.

• Awareness of current events and key news figures.

• Quick turnaround capabilities.

• Basic understanding of analytics and the ability to convert data into actionable tactics and strategies, including familiarity with Chartbeat and Adobe Analytics.

• Knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

• Basic understanding of SEO best practices.

• Residency in NY or NJ is required.

• Willingness to undergo and pass a comprehensive pre-employment background check and MVR.

• Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

• Availability for shift work and varied hours outside of standard business hours.
