Part-Time Medical Biller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete medical billing cycle for a behavioral health and group therapy practice.

• Confirm patient insurance eligibility and benefits.

• Assist with and follow up on prior authorization requests and requirements.

• Accurately prepare and submit insurance claims in a timely manner.

• Monitor the status of claims and follow up on any unpaid or delayed claims.

• Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing discrepancies.

• Prepare and submit appeals when necessary.

• Process and review Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs).

• Track payments from patients and insurance companies, ensuring accurate posting.

• Conduct regular billing and payment reconciliations.

• Identify outstanding balances and follow up as required.

• Maintain precise billing records and documentation.

• Communicate effectively with practice staff regarding billing issues, claims, and outstanding matters.

• Help maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date billing workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven U.S. medical billing experience is essential.

• Experience with billing in behavioral health, mental health, therapy, or related healthcare practices is highly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to manage the complete medical billing process.

• Familiarity with insurance verification, claims submission, denials, appeals, payment posting, ERAs, and reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare insurance and billing practices.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and manage billing responsibilities with minimal supervision.

• Reliable availability during Central Time business hours.
