This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assist in the execution of programs across various counties and districts in accordance with OSCIA procedures.
• Organize and facilitate both virtual and in-person workshops, covering logistics, delivery, reporting, and administration.
• Collaborate with Technical Advisors to co-deliver workshops.
• Advocate for cost-share opportunities and support research initiatives through public engagement.
• Communicate with farmers via phone, email, and in-person to address cost-share applications and claims.
• Conduct on-site or virtual inspections of approved cost-share initiatives.
• Aid in conducting informational sessions regarding funding opportunities and program updates.
• Provide precise information in line with operational procedures and funding guidelines.
• Identify areas for efficiency, share insights from the field, and incorporate client feedback to enhance programs.
• Engage in agricultural events, producer meetings, conferences, workshops, and networking opportunities.
• Act as a representative for OSCIA in sustainable agriculture programming and knowledge dissemination.
• Establish and nurture relationships with farming organizations, agribusinesses, and partner entities.
• Ensure confidentiality and data security in both electronic and physical filing systems.
• Participate actively in team meetings, planning sessions, and staff training initiatives.
• Contribute to program messaging and outreach strategies.
• Record and report client feedback to facilitate process improvements.
• Travel within the designated district and occasionally beyond the region for support, training, or events.
• Prioritize seasonal workloads in alignment with farmer schedules and program timelines.
• Completion of post-secondary education in agriculture, environmental sciences, or a related field; equivalent work experience may also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario agriculture, comprising environmental and economic farm sustainability, biosecurity, soil health, water quality, and best management practices.
• Proven experience in facilitating adult education sessions or agricultural workshops.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills when engaging with farming audiences.
• Background in customer service, specifically supporting producers or agricultural clients.
• Capability to engage farm businesses and motivate participation in programs.
• Strong administrative, coordination, and organizational abilities.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and quickly acquire new concepts.
• Proficiency in a diverse range of computer applications and technology.
• A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is mandatory.
• Familiarity with agricultural funding programs and sustainability practices.
• Insight into rural community dynamics and Ontario farm operations.
• Strong presentation skills and expertise in facilitating adult learning.
• Computer literacy and comfort with virtual platforms and digital tools.
• Excellent time management skills and administrative tracking capability.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing a flexible schedule.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Dependable, high-speed internet connection is essential for virtual meetings and online collaboration.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as necessary.
• Capability to occasionally lift files, laptops, and workshop materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
