Part-Time Adjunct Faculty – Nursing Success Coach

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Offer personalized academic coaching to nursing students identified through performance metrics, standardized assessments, faculty referrals, student self-referrals, or recognized early-alert criteria.

• Utilize student performance indicators to pinpoint areas needing focused academic assistance, remediation, or NCLEX readiness coaching.

• Organize coaching sessions, virtual office hours, small-group workshops, and academic support activities.

• Promote effective study techniques, test-taking strategies, time management, clinical reasoning, critical thinking, content review, and analysis of NCLEX-style questions.

• Create tailored success plans that include goals, action steps, timelines, and follow-up expectations.

• Monitor participation in coaching, completion of remediation, progress on success plans, and indicators of student achievement.

• Collaborate with instructional faculty to reinforce course requirements and communicate student progress or concerns.

• Lead NCLEX-style question review sessions and remediation that align with course outcomes, program standards, ATI resources, and student learning needs.

• Direct students to academic advising, tutoring, accessibility services, library resources, wellness support, and other University resources.

• Keep records of coaching interactions, student progress, remediation efforts, and outcomes.

• Provide trends, summaries, and recommendations to the School of Nursing leadership.

• Complete necessary training, attend required meetings, and adhere to University policies, School of Nursing expectations, and Faculty Handbook guidelines.

• Respond to student and University communications within specified timelines.

• Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and student-centered atmosphere.

• Ensure confidentiality and protect student records.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required.

• A current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license is mandatory.

• New York Registered Nurse licensure or a willingness to apply for New York State licensure is preferred.

• Experience in nursing education, academic coaching, student success initiatives, remediation, NCLEX preparation, or similar support roles is preferred.

• A strong understanding of nursing curricula, clinical judgment development, NCLEX test plans, standardized testing strategies, and evidence-based academic support practices is essential.

• Familiarity with learning management systems, educational technology, video conferencing tools, standardized assessment platforms, and student performance data is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Ability to differentiate academic coaching and support from instructional, grading, progression, and other academic decisions.

• Capability to work effectively with adult, online, nontraditional, and diverse student populations.

• Proficiency in managing multiple student interactions, maintaining accurate records, meeting deadlines, and adhering to communication and documentation standards.

• A commitment to student success, academic integrity, professional accountability, and ongoing improvement.

• Ability and willingness to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.

• Maintain confidentiality and protect student records in accordance with FERPA, University policy, and applicable privacy regulations.
