Outpatient Coder – E.R. Cases

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage medical coding and data entry/abstraction for Hospital (Acute) Out-Patient visits.

• Code Emergency Room (E.R.) cases effectively.

• Utilize the 3M 360 Encoder HDM to enhance the coding and billing workflow.

• Precisely assign ICD-10-CM and PCS primary and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes based on documentation along with site-specific guidelines and policies.

• Correctly assign the DRG.

• Generate compliant physician queries.

• Evaluate claims for medical necessity.

• Update problem lists in accordance with client contracts.

• Accurately assign present on admission indicators.

• Deliver exceptional customer service to clients and colleagues.

• Adapt seamlessly across multiple sites and coding specialties with flexibility.

• Execute other job-related tasks as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.

• AHIMA or AAPC certification is REQUIRED.

• Actively possesses one or more of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC.

• Prior experience coding Emergency Room cases is REQUIRED.

• Familiarity with 3M 360 Encoder HDM is REQUIRED.

• Consistently meets or exceeds Quality and Productivity standards.

• Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal abilities.

• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills.

• Must be detail-oriented and capable of resolving issues thoroughly.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
