Inpatient Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate clinical documentation and assign as well as sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient facility records.

• Confirm the accuracy of MS-DRG calculations to effectively represent documented diagnoses and procedures.

• Analyze and assess documentation for precise clinical data abstraction and adherence to regulatory standards.

• Choose and arrange ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for specified patient categories, including acute inpatient facility records.

• Examine clinical records to ensure that MS-DRG assignments accurately reflect the documented diagnoses and procedures.

• Extract clinical data that supports diagnoses, procedures, and discharge dispositions.

• Serve as a resource for client personnel concerning data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, which includes provider inquiries.

• Uphold patient and provider confidentiality and contribute to Savista’s Compliance Program.

• Engage in client and staff meetings, training sessions, conference calls, and continuing education opportunities.

• Keep abreast of current coding guidelines, governmental regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements.

• Carry out other related duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Successfully complete pre-employment skills assessment.

• Hold an active AHIMA credential, such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or a related certification.

• Possess an active AAPC credential, including COC (formerly CPC-H), CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential.

• Have two (2) years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience with Acute Inpatient records.

• Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and ICD-10-CM/PCS code sets.

• Ability to consistently achieve a coding accuracy and quality threshold of 95%.

• Proficient in computer skills, including basic functions of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Exhibit excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with both internal and external customers.
