Inpatient Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review clinical documentation and assign as well as sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient facility records.

• Validate MS-DRG calculations to accurately reflect documented diagnoses and procedures.

• Examine and analyze clinical records to ensure MS-DRG assignments faithfully represent documented diagnoses and procedures.

• Abstract clinical data following documentation review to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition.

• Complete assigned tasks utilizing the appropriate resources.

• Serve as a resource for client staff regarding data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider inquiries.

• Engage in client and staff meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.

• Participate in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain up-to-date credentials.

• Support Savista’s Compliance Program and report any compliance concerns or incidents.

• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.

• An active AHIMA credential, including RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or an active AAPC credential, such as COC (formerly CPC-H), CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential.

• Two (2) years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience with Acute Inpatient records.

• Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10-CM and PCS, coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party coding/billing requirements.

• Ensure strict patient and provider confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.

• Demonstrate compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

• Appropriately handle patient information in accordance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations.
