Operations Excellence Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver engineering and project support to Americold facilities.

• Enhance labor productivity and inventory management through engineered labor standards.

• Generate and assist in the execution and sustainability of continuous improvement initiatives.

• Utilize dashboards to track labor, inventory, and service performance at the site level.

• Recognize issues and implement corrective actions across designated sites.

• Drive productivity enhancements, process improvements, and inventory control initiatives via continuous improvement projects.

• Create, validate, and uphold time-studied standards.

• Calculate and apply performance incentives.

• Ensure effective change management to maintain assigned projects.

• Educate operations teams on labor management, inventory control, process improvement tools, and relevant systems.

• Assess and recommend process enhancements.

• Evaluate the requirements for material handling equipment.

• Stay updated on warehouse technology and assess its applications.

• Develop project scopes, specifications, and cost estimates.

• Conduct audits and comparative analyses of sites to ensure compliance, identify performance gaps, and set inventory control benchmarks.

• Assist in boosting productivity and minimizing costs.

• Create scheduling tools to capture work content.

• Oversee the 5 Habits and improvements in labor management system performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent field such as Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or Logistics is mandatory.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Industrial Engineering or a combination of equivalent experience with a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline is required.

• Proven experience in developing engineered labor standards.

• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and experience in implementing them is essential.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to work across various functions.

• Proficient in utilizing problem-solving techniques to uncover root causes of failures and devise solutions to achieve targets.

• Strong business planning and analytical capabilities, including market intelligence, metrics, and financial analysis.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Familiarity with concepts related to distribution centers/logistics and best practices in warehousing.

• Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time.

• Must be located within one hour of a major airport.

• Experience in the distribution/warehouse/logistics sector is preferred.

• Proficiency in RF Scanning and Warehouse Management Systems is a plus.

• Experience with semi and fully automated material handling systems is advantageous.

• Ability to make data-driven decisions based on relevant business metrics.

• Capable of resolving issues promptly with minimal supervision.

• Ability to manage a diverse project portfolio with varying priorities and impact.

• Strong computer skills, including SQL, Power BI, MS Office, and experience with MSD/MOST is preferred.

• Capability to sit for extended periods with frequent interruptions.

• Involves several hours of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching or bending.

• Manual dexterity for standard office tasks.

• Effective communication skills, including talking, hearing, and seeing, are crucial for task completion.

• Potential visits to warehouse operations in temperatures at or below freezing.

• May require carrying travel loads and occasionally lifting, carrying, positioning, or moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

• Requires the use of various electronic tools.
