Operating Systems Specialist – Linux, Wintel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage alerts at the operating system level

• Conduct advanced troubleshooting on both Linux and Windows servers

• Identify issues related to CPU, memory, I/O, and performance degradation

• Examine system logs and critical services

• Address complex incidents and provide immediate mitigation for critical situations

• Manage service restoration and controlled system restarts

• Confirm connectivity between various systems

• Implement changes following the ITIL framework

• Engage in patching, updating, and hardening procedures

• Work within virtualized environments

• Generate structured technical analyses and document operational procedures

• Recognize opportunities for process improvements

• Automate recurring tasks

• Collaborate with infrastructure teams

• Perform additional routine duties related to the position

• Availability for work from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., including shifts on weekends and holidays

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in IT operations

• Strong background with Linux and Windows in production settings

• Proficient in advanced troubleshooting within critical environments

• Experience in 24x7 critical operational settings

• Familiarity with virtualization and operational maintenance

• Knowledge of patching and stability processes

• Advanced understanding of Linux, encompassing performance diagnostics, log analysis, service troubleshooting, filesystem management, and networking

• In-depth knowledge of Windows Server, including administration, troubleshooting, Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, Windows services, IIS, and PowerShell

• Awareness of virtualization technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms

• Knowledge of patching, hardening, and operating system hygiene

• Understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and connectivity diagnostics

• Familiarity with observability tools, such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK

• Proficient in Bash and PowerShell for automation, diagnostics, and remediation

• Experience with ServiceNow or similar tools

• Familiarity with ITIL principles, including incident, problem, and change management

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

• Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Spanish for conversational use

• Intermediate or advanced proficiency in English for conversational use

• Preferred: Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or OpenShift (OCP)

• Preferred: Relevant certifications such as Red Hat (RHCSA/RHCE), Microsoft, Windows Server or Azure, VMware/Hyper-V, ITIL Foundation, and observability certifications
