Online ESL Teacher, Japanese Adult Students

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Conduct personalized conversational and assessment-oriented English lessons for adult students from Japan.

• Facilitate 25-minute sessions for learners ranging from beginner to advanced proficiency.

• Tailor instruction to meet the unique levels and needs of each student.

• Offer a brief, supportive message following each class, lasting approximately two minutes.

• Utilize provided lesson materials on the client's internal platform integrated with Zoom.

• Adhere to assigned shifts with five-minute breaks between consecutive classes.

• Option to substitute for absent teachers if desired.

• Foster relationships with students who may opt for recurring classes.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least a 3-year National Diploma (minimum qualification).

• A completed, accredited 120-hour TEFL certificate or equivalent qualification.

• A minimum of 1 year of ESL teaching experience.

• A demo lesson is required as part of the application process.

• Capability to teach English across all CEFR proficiency levels, from absolute beginner to advanced.

• Energetic, student-centered, and comfortable with online teaching.

• Schedule-aware and adaptable; responsible for understanding assigned shifts and adjusting to changes.

• Clear and effective communication skills.

• Patience and empathy towards learners at all proficiency levels.

• A positive attitude and a professional demeanor.

• Strong time management and organizational abilities.

• Flexibility in a dynamic, student-focused environment.

• A problem-solving approach.

• A computer with a minimum 2GHz processor, 4 CPU, and 8GB RAM.

• A fiber internet connection with a LAN cable and a minimum of 20 Mbps upload and download speed.

• Backup power supply necessary for load shedding or power outages.

• Webcam and noise-cancelling headset.

• A quiet, private, well-lit teaching area with a neutral background.
