Onboarding Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee customer deployments of Portnox’s cloud-based network access control solutions.

• Comprehend each client's environment and manage implementations from the point of post-sales handoff to production.

• Conduct discovery sessions, confirm project scope and prerequisites, and create implementation plans with stakeholders, milestones, and acceptance criteria.

• Facilitate technical working sessions, provide recommendations, and tackle blockers, scope modifications, and unrealistic expectations.

• Direct wired and wireless deployments involving 802.1X, RADIUS, certificates, identity integrations, device compliance, and access policies.

• Utilize logs, packet captures, and controlled testing to diagnose issues.

• Organize pilots, phased deployments, validation, and rollback procedures.

• Escalate challenges to Support, Engineering, and Product with clear documentation.

• Train administrators, document deployed configurations, validate agreed outcomes, and ensure a smooth transition to ongoing support.

• Contribute to enhancing deployment practices based on implementation experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless connectivity.

• Proven experience managing technical implementations or resolving complex infrastructure issues.

• Capability to articulate technical decisions and outcomes clearly.

• Ability to independently learn 802.1X through documentation, practical testing, and targeted inquiries.

• Skill in testing assumptions, following evidence, and knowing when to engage others.

• Proficiency in leading technical discussions, explaining trade-offs, and maintaining composure under pressure.

• Capacity to manage multiple implementations, follow up without prompting, and identify risks early.

• Valuable experience with identity platforms, endpoint management, and certificates.

• Familiarity with Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, Jamf, or Okta is advantageous.

• Experience with Portnox, Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, Forescout, or Microsoft NPS is a plus.
