Node Architect – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Analyze the current multi-product architecture prior to suggesting modifications

• Provide data-driven evaluations of code and design quality across various product lines

• Evaluate accuracy on financial and stock pathways, security posture, coupling, and capacity risks

• Write and assess RFCs and ADRs that address assumptions, potential failure modes, capacity, and security

• Develop decisions regarding whether to extend or rebuild, incorporating incremental, reversible migration and rollback strategies

• Handle multi-currency transactions (IQD/AED/SAR), exposure to fraud and abuse, PCI DSS scope, third-party supplier integrations, and traffic surges up to 65 times baseline

• Collaborate as a technical peer with the client's Staff engineers and engineering managers during planning, standups, and design reviews

• Produce designs that are ready for production

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience

• Proficient in designing across multiple teams' areas

• Capable of anticipating future use cases and designing to reduce the cost of changes

• Able to foresee scaling limits within a domain and shared dependencies

• Conduct thorough reviews of other teams' designs

• Function as a technical peer to Staff engineers and engineering managers

• Create services utilizing bounded contexts and minimized cross-service dependencies

• Plan for expected peak loads and confirm limits through testing

• Develop components that are easy to adopt with comprehensive documentation and migration strategies

• Design with abuse prevention in mind, incorporating rate limits, velocity checks, and idempotency

• Clearly explain every line of AI-generated code delivered

• Test edge cases and failure scenarios

• Possess a solid understanding of OWASP Top 10, secrets management, input validation, and data handling practices

• Strong proficiency in written English

• Collaborative approach that emphasizes options, trade-offs, and well-reasoned arguments

• Candidates should be located within a reasonable time-zone difference to UTC+4, with a minimum of 5 hours of overlap
