Network Specialist – Launch Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of network readiness for dock deployments by assessing site network designs, firewall and allowlist prerequisites, and connectivity strategies with customer IT and network administrators.

• Serve as Skydio's primary technical liaison for customer IT and security teams.

• Respond to security questionnaires and clarify dock traffic, ports, and protocols.

• Process change requests through corporate firewalls and information security policies.

• Design and verify wired Ethernet and PoE, VLANs and static addressing, NAT and VPN, WiFi, as well as LTE or 5G cellular backhaul.

• Ensure that sites possess adequate bandwidth for live video streaming.

• Provide support to Deployment Engineering both on-site and remotely when networking issues hinder deployment.

• Troubleshoot connectivity outages on deployed docks.

• Create network requirements, pre-install validation tests, site survey checklists, and troubleshooting documentation.

• Deliver prioritized feedback to Product and Engineering regarding dock networking, diagnostics, and configurations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years in network engineering, network administration, or a customer-facing networking position.

• Strong practical experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, NAT, VPNs, and firewall policies.

• Proficient in diagnosing connectivity issues using packet captures and standard networking tools.

• Familiarity with enterprise firewalls and networking equipment such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, or Meraki.

• Basic understanding of WiFi and cellular networking, including LTE or 5G routers, signal assessment, and carrier data plans.

• Comfortable engaging directly with customers possessing varying levels of technical expertise.

• Highly organized, with strong documentation skills and the discipline to maintain an up-to-date system of record.

• Possession of an FAA Part 107 Certificate, or the capability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.

• Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.

• US Person status required for employment at US government facilities.
