Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement Atos Public Safety’s state-of-the-art 9-1-1 solution.

• Set up Cisco routers, switches, SD-WAN, and VXLAN according to established voice-environment standards.

• Engage in network planning, engineering, and architectural processes.

• Create and update technical and procedural documentation.

• Offer second- and third-level support for incidents and service requests.

• Install and configure network devices based on provided designs and standards.

• Monitor performance, troubleshoot network issues and outages, schedule upgrades, and work with network architects on optimization.

• Develop and enforce network security policies.

• Coordinate efforts among various groups to ensure 99.999% uptime.

• Provide after-hours technical support as needed, including weekends.

• Document network designs, policies, and system configurations thoroughly.

• Lead network-related projects from inception to deployment, ensuring that milestones and deliverables are achieved.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend enhancements to the network.

• Implement and uphold security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption standards.

• Monitor vulnerabilities and implement patches, updates, or modifications to reduce risks.

• Ensure adherence to organizational policies and regulatory standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive understanding of security requirements for deploying voice solutions in the field.

• Proven experience configuring Cisco Routers, Switches, SD-WAN, and VXLAN in a voice environment.

• Familiarity with the NG911 topology and related equipment.

• Extensive knowledge and experience with Cisco SD-WAN, Versa, Cisco ISR and ASR Routing platforms, Cisco Nexus 9K Switching, Cisco Catalyst Switching, Cisco NG Firewalls, Cisco ASA Firewalls, and VXLAN in both IPv4 and IPv6 environments.

• Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving intricate network issues.

• Experience ensuring high availability through redundancy, failover configurations, and proactive maintenance.

• Familiarity with virtualized networks, including VMware, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure Cloud Platform.

• Ability to collaborate as part of a geographically and culturally diverse team.

• Willingness to participate in on-call schedules and work outside regular business hours during planned maintenance windows.

• Understanding and knowledge of NIST, CIS, or NENA security standards.

• Experience managing and collaborating with Managed Service Providers such as Lumen Versa.

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

• Excellent email and telephone etiquette.

• Over 10 years of demonstrated experience in network engineering, implementation, and maintenance of geographically dispersed networks.

• More than 5 years of network security experience, encompassing firewalls, security tools, and threat mitigation.

• Capability to advance technologies, processes, and practices in the field of specialization.

• Cisco CCNP, CCIE, Security and/or SD-WAN certification or equivalent experience is preferred.

• Certifications in Azure, GCP, and/or VMware are desirable.

• Experience in NG 9-1-1 networking or carrier-grade voice networking is advantageous.
