Network Engineer – 4G/5G Core Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist with laboratory and production testing for core network technologies.

• Execute and document network testing protocols, providing findings and suggestions.

• Engage in meetings with customers and stakeholders to grasp testing goals and operational needs.

• Design and implement upgrades to the lab, enhance network features, and deploy new functionalities.

• Create migration guides and aid in the transition from lab to production activities.

• Offer technical consulting on network architecture, scalability, resilience, performance, and Quality of Service (QoS).

• Aid in network change management tasks, including impact analyses and implementation evaluations.

• Support troubleshooting and production deployment during significant network modifications.

• Participate in regular technical meetings and service evaluations.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, testing reports, migration guides, and operational outputs.

• Provide informal technical training and knowledge transfer when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experienced Network Engineer with substantial expertise in 4G/5G core networking technologies.

• Profound knowledge of 4G/5G core technologies, cloud-native networking, network virtualization, and advanced routing protocols.

• Availability to work during Pacific Standard Time business hours.

• Comprehensive understanding of 4G and 5G technologies.

• Strong familiarity with 3GPP / 3GPP2 standards.

• Awareness of 5G Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) architectures.

• Knowledge of Service-Based Architecture (SBA) and Service Mesh.

• Understanding of network functions such as AMF, SMF, UPF, and PCF.

• Familiarity with network slicing and VPP.

• Knowledge of data modeling techniques, including fragmentation, peer-to-peer (P2P), and content filtering.

• Understanding of Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI), virtualization technologies, and cloud-native networking implementations.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, and microservices architecture.

• Strong background in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including BGP, BFD, IS-IS, OSPF, and static routing.

• Experience in network test automation.

• Proficiency in Python 3 development/scripting.

• Unix/Linux administration skills.

• Experience with shell scripting.

• Expertise in performance testing and scaling.

• Background in system engineering.

• Understanding of telecom call models and optimization of network performance.

• Preferred: experience in large-scale telecommunications or service provider environments.

• Preferred: experience with network migrations and support for production deployment.

• Strong skills in documentation and communication.

• Experience collaborating with engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams.

• Prior experience in supporting 5G core network deployments and troubleshooting.

• Hands-on experience with 4G/5G core networking.

• Strong expertise in cloud-native networking.

• Advanced capabilities in routing and network troubleshooting.

• Experience in supporting production and deployment activities.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while coordinating with global teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Recent practical experience in supporting 4G/5G core network technologies.
