National Payer Accounts Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement strategies for managing accounts with national and regional commercial payers.

• Collaborate with payer stakeholders across various functions such as medical, pharmacy, policy, reimbursement, and contracting.

• Assist in planning for launch readiness of AXPAXLI/OTX-TKI and optimize access for DEXTENZA.

• Keep track of payer policies, formulary requirements, utilization controls, changes in benefit design, and reimbursement trends.

• Work collaboratively across departments to ensure alignment on evidence, value communication, field resources, and compliant engagement with accounts.

• Convert payer insights into actionable recommendations for internal strategies and executive decision-making.

• Contribute to the development of commercial payer strategies for Ocular Therapeutix’s retina pipeline and its marketed ophthalmology products.

• Report directly to the Executive Director, Payer Access.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory; an advanced degree is preferred.

• Over 10 years of pertinent experience in biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, market access, payer account management, reimbursement, pricing, contracting, or commercial roles.

• 12+ years of experience is preferred for the Senior Director level.

• Proven experience engaging with national and regional payer accounts, including commercial plans, PBMs, IDNs, or affiliate provider organizations.

• A strong grasp of medical benefit and pharmacy benefit access, buy-and-bill reimbursement, specialty pharmacy, coding, coverage policy, prior authorization, and utilization management.

• Experience in ophthalmology, retina, specialty pharmacy, rare/specialty therapeutics, or provider-administered products is preferred.

• Excellent communication, account planning, analytical, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership abilities.
