National Manager – Inventory, Warehousing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Formulate and execute a national inventory management strategy that aligns with the organization's goals.

• Develop and enforce inventory policies, procedures, controls, and performance standards across all sites.

• Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes.

• Track inventory levels, turnover rates, aging stock, obsolete items, excess inventory, and shortages.

• Set inventory targets, safety stock levels, and replenishment protocols.

• Collaborate with Procurement and Operations to enhance inventory availability and working capital performance.

• Detect and minimize inventory discrepancies, shrinkage, damage, and write-offs.

• Implement controls for serialized, lot-controlled, regulated, or high-value inventory when applicable.

• Provide national leadership for warehouse operations across various facilities.

• Standardize warehouse processes, layouts, workflows, and operating procedures.

• Streamline receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, staging, shipping, and returns processes.

• Enhance warehouse productivity, space utilization, labor efficiency, and overall throughput.

• Assess warehouse capacity needs and facilitate decisions regarding expansion, consolidation, relocation, or third-party warehousing.

• Ensure the availability of appropriate equipment, technology, staffing, and infrastructure.

• Drive effective utilization of ERP, inventory management, and associated technology systems.

• Enhance system accuracy and the timeliness of transactions.

• Identify avenues for automation, scanning, barcode/RFID technology, reporting, and data analytics.

• Collaborate with IT and business teams on system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and process enhancements.

• Establish national KPIs and dashboards to monitor inventory and warehouse performance.

• Analyze operational data to seek cost reduction and productivity improvements.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or other methodologies.

• Develop corrective action plans for recurring operational challenges.

• Benchmark performance across locations and disseminate best practices.

• Ensure adherence to company policies and relevant laws and regulations.

• Promote warehouse safety and compliance with workplace safety standards.

• Establish controls to minimize inventory loss, theft, damage, and operational risks.

• Maintain documentation, audit controls, and inventory records.

• Support internal and external audit processes.

• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, warehouse service providers, and operational vendors.

• Set service-level expectations, KPIs, and conduct performance reviews.

• Negotiate and oversee service agreements with Procurement and relevant stakeholders.

• Monitor vendor performance, costs, quality, and compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.

• Professional certifications such as APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent are beneficial.

• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in inventory management, warehousing, logistics, supply chain, or operations.

• At least 5 years of management or leadership experience.

• Proven experience overseeing multiple warehouse locations or a national/multi-site operation.

• Experience managing substantial inventory volumes and operational budgets.

• Familiarity with SAP and Procore systems.

• Experience leading process improvement and operational transformation initiatives.

• Advanced knowledge of inventory management principles.

• Experience in multi-site warehouse management.

• Proficient in vendor and 3PL management.
