National Director of Sports – Venues

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement the national growth strategy for the Sports & Venue sector.

• Act as the primary leader and advocate for the Sports & Venue market across various regions in the U.S.

• Recognize market trends, opportunities, investment priorities, and client requirements.

• Collaborate with regional, national, and global leadership teams on key priorities, revenue goals, and growth strategies.

• Represent Turner & Townsend at industry conferences, trade organizations, league events, and client engagements.

• Create opportunities through executive-level industry relationships and client interactions.

• Drive client development efforts, presentations, strategic planning discussions, and market outreach.

• Formulate account strategies and seek long-term growth opportunities.

• Lead intricate pursuits from the identification of opportunities through to contract awarding.

• Develop capture strategies, win themes, value propositions, staffing plans, and delivery methods.

• Assemble and guide internal and external pursuit teams.

• Manage proposals, interview preparations, presentation strategies, and client engagement.

• Oversee pursuit budgets, timelines, and proposal quality assurance.

• Mentor teams in best practices for pursuits and business development methodologies.

• Align regional teams to create a cohesive national Sports practice.

• Promote collaboration across program management, project management, cost management, advisory, controls, scheduling, and consulting teams.

• Forge strategic partnerships with architects, engineers, contractors, technology providers, venue consultants, and specialty advisors.

• Assist in the startup and mobilization of major programs, including governance, staffing, reporting, project controls, and onboarding.

• Provide executive oversight and strategic guidance for significant sports programs and projects.

• Counsel project teams involved in the delivery of stadiums, arenas, training facilities, mixed-use developments, and event-driven capital programs.

• Aid in resolving client challenges, managing executive stakeholders, mitigating risks, and addressing complex delivery issues.

• Ensure consistent service delivery, client satisfaction, and project performance.

• Mentor upcoming leaders in the sports sector and contribute to recruitment and retention efforts.

• Set performance metrics and growth objectives for the Sports market sector.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Real Estate, Sports Management, or a related field.

• Over 15 years of advancing experience in leading sports facilities, sports development, venue, entertainment, or large-scale capital project programs.

• Proven experience in delivering large-scale sports, venue, entertainment, or complex capital programs.

• In-depth knowledge of the Sports and Entertainment sector.

• Experience in establishing and mobilizing new programs and client engagements.

• Strong technical knowledge of program management, project management, design, construction, scheduling, cost management, and project controls.

• Established reputation and credibility in the sports and entertainment sector.

• Proven success in generating and securing new business within the sports and entertainment industry.

• Established national network among professional sports franchises, collegiate athletics, venue operators, developers, architects, contractors, and industry partners.

• Demonstrated experience in leading complex pursuits, proposals, interviews, and client presentations.

• Strong understanding of sports facility planning, development, design, construction, and operations.

• Experience engaging with ownership groups, athletic directors, commissioners, league representatives, team executives, and public-sector leaders.

• Exceptional skills in communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building.

• Capacity to lead geographically diverse teams and national initiatives.

• Financial acumen including growth planning, revenue forecasting, and investment management for pursuits.

• Willingness to travel nationally as needed.
