This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the daily loan origination processes for a small team of Mortgage Loan Originators.
• Ensure that all necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closing are obtained promptly from the relevant sources.
• Achieve the annual loan volume origination targets set by upper management.
• Build and maintain relationships with referral sources such as real estate brokers, builders, and other external partners.
• Engage in local and state mortgage banking, realtor, and builder trade associations.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the mortgage industry and current issues.
• Foster collaborative partnerships within U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and across various business lines.
• Encourage customer relationship development and promote additional product sales.
• Conduct interviews and recruit new talent.
• Support employee retention through development initiatives and positive engagement.
• Coach, mentor, and develop Mortgage Loan Originators to improve their performance and drive business outcomes.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Two or more years of experience in mortgage sales.
• Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) in accordance with the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z.
• The NMLS registration process includes a criminal background check and a credit assessment.
• Proven skills in business development and relationship management.
• Strong understanding of sales and effective sales strategies.
• Extensive knowledge of mortgage products/services, operations, and current market trends.
• Fundamental understanding of pricing and underwriting criteria from various mortgage insurance companies.
• Proficient knowledge of underwriting standards for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors.
• Awareness of relevant local, state, and national regulations, including zoning laws, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit standards.
• Well-developed skills in customer service and relations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and capability to analyze financial data.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must be capable of fulfilling applicable duties outside the regular place of business.
• A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated success in mortgage loan origination, consistently achieving or surpassing production goals.
• Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing mortgage loan originators.
• Candidates must adhere to U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, as well as workplace conduct and safety regulations.
