Mortgage Loan Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Originate and sell residential mortgage loans to achieve sales targets.

• Engage with prospects referred by realtors, developers, attorneys, and both internal and external referral sources.

• Provide explanations of mortgage products and services, recommending options tailored to the prospect's needs.

• Assist customers throughout the mortgage application process.

• Clarify the necessary information and details involved in the loan process.

• Ensure the accuracy of applications and the inclusion of all required documentation.

• Manage customer expectations concerning processing times and closing dates.

• Generate referrals for mortgage opportunities alongside other company products.

• Collaborate with sales management to develop strategies for achieving sales goals.

• Input data into mortgage loan systems while maintaining precise pipeline records.

• Prepare supporting files and documentation necessary for underwriting and regulatory compliance.

• Forward applications and necessary information to the underwriting department.

• Underwrite loans using point-of-sale underwriting systems within authorized limits.

• Communicate loan decisions effectively and clarify any additional information required.

• Submit materials for processing, clear conditions, finalize commitments, and prepare for closing activities.

• Maintain communication with customers, underwriters, processors, realtors, closing agents, and other stakeholders.

• Attend closing sessions as necessary.

• Stay informed on industry practices, mortgage laws, regulations, products, and policies through ongoing training and seminars.

• Participate in homebuyer seminars, home shows, broker meetings, and financing workshops.

• Suggest changes to products, programs, and pricing.

• Help facilitate successful audits and examinations at TD Bank.

• Address complex mortgage requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant progressive work experience in addition to the experience outlined below.

• Over 2 years of experience in mortgage origination.

• Demonstrated sales proficiency.

• Developing knowledge of the mortgage industry, including products, lending practices, and regulatory standards.

• Exceptional sales and negotiation capabilities.

• Self-motivated with the ability to organize personal activities to meet sales objectives.

• Strong skills in time management.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient PC skills, including the capacity to learn mortgage origination and automated underwriting systems.

• Must meet eligibility requirements for employment with a covered financial institution as per Regulation Z standards.

• Must qualify for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with NMLS under the SAFE Act.

• Satisfactory completion of criminal background and credit report checks.

• Required to provide statements/certifications regarding any administrative, civil, and/or criminal findings from government agencies/authorities.

• Willingness to travel domestically on occasion.

• Ability to perform sedentary work, handle multiple tasks, operate standard office equipment, maintain concentration over extended periods, comprehend instructions, and perform basic arithmetic.
