This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +31 more states.
• Lead, mentor, and enhance the skills of a team comprising Modern Workplace engineers and administrators.
• Provide direct technical leadership across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, security, automation, and device management technologies.
• Act as a senior escalation point for intricate incidents, service interruptions, implementation hurdles, and architectural decisions.
• Engage in technical discovery, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation processes.
• Assess technical designs, implementation strategies, scripts, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Oversee work intake, prioritization, resource allocation, execution, and follow-up activities.
• Convert departmental strategies and institutional requirements into technical roadmaps, delivery plans, and team assignments.
• Set technical standards, engineering practices, documentation requirements, and accountability expectations.
• Conduct individual meetings, performance evaluations, technical coaching, and professional development planning.
• Identify skill gaps and create avenues for cross-training, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and technical advancement.
• Collaborate with the Director on platform strategy, architecture, workforce planning, budgeting, vendor management, and service enhancements.
• Coordinate technical delivery across Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows, macOS, MECM, Autopilot, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Power Platform, Copilot, and other related technologies.
• Work in partnership with Information Security, Infrastructure, Enterprise Applications, Service Management, and other ITS teams.
• Support incident, problem, change, request, release, and configuration management practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose enhancements.
• Develop automation and advocate for scripting, standardization, and repeatable engineering practices.
• Monitor service performance, technical debt, workload distribution, platform health, and delivery results.
• Communicate technical risks, dependencies, status, resource needs, and recommendations effectively.
• Represent Modern Workplace Engineering in technical reviews, governance forums, project meetings, and operational discussions.
• Report directly to the Director of Modern Workplace Engineering.
• A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in Microsoft 365, endpoint engineering, infrastructure, systems administration, Modern Workplace technologies, or a related technical domain.
• At least three years of formal experience in people management, supervision, technical leadership, or team leadership.
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in place of a degree is acceptable.
• Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft 365 administration and at least two major Modern Workplace disciplines.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting complex technical challenges and guiding engineers to resolution.
• Background in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Experience in reviewing technical designs, scripts, configurations, implementation plans, and operational documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to coach technical personnel, manage performance, and support career development.
• Experience in managing competing operational priorities, escalations, projects, and technical resources.
• Working knowledge of IT service management, security, governance, and change management practices.
• Strong skills in communication, decision-making, organization, and stakeholder management.
• Must reside in and work from one of the approved states.
