Mobile Architect – POS Terminal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and architecture of POS terminal solutions, ensuring security, scalability, performance, and integration with various hardware and payment systems.

• Create and update architectural documents and diagrams for POS terminal systems, ensuring all platforms are thoroughly documented and current.

• Make architectural choices regarding POS terminal software, incorporating various payment technologies, EMV standards, and ensuring compatibility with hardware.

• Guide the development of applications related to POS.

• Enhance system performance and security, particularly in relation to payment processing and EMV protocols.

• Engage in planning sessions with product and engineering teams to ensure solutions align with market demands and business objectives.

• Conduct code reviews and promote best practices for the development of mobile and embedded systems, especially for Android Native development.

• Establish and uphold software engineering best practices across POS and related teams to boost efficiency and developer productivity.

• Ensure the stability and reliability of POS terminal products and applications, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting as needed.

• Offer technical mentorship to engineering teams, aiding in skill development and alignment with the broader technical vision.

• Take part in the hiring process by screening engineers with expertise in POS systems, mobile, and embedded development.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in system design, architecture, and development, particularly within the POS terminal domain.

• Strong proficiency in Android Native development (Java/Kotlin), with a thorough understanding of Android-based POS terminal solutions.

• Experience in cross-platform mobile development, such as Flutter, and familiarity with other POS application platforms (e.g., C, JavaScript) is advantageous.

• In-depth knowledge of EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) security protocols, including chip-based transactions, encryption, and key management.

• Experience integrating hardware for POS devices, including card readers, pin pads, printers, and other peripherals.

• Comprehensive understanding of payment systems architecture, including integration with payment processors and gateways.

• Knowledge of software quality assurance principles and their application in financial systems.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a knack for managing complex system interactions and adapting to evolving requirements.

• Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Leadership skills with an emphasis on mentoring engineers and driving process enhancements within the team.
